Michaels appears in the film with best actor winner Adrien Brody. That film is scheduled for release in the fall/winter. Here's a switch... Michaels plays a student in a ventriloquism class!

The producers also used Michaels' "Video Ventriloquism" home study tape to teach Brody the basics of ventriloquism

Local comedian dazzles all with unique skill

Ventriloquist Pete Michaels is rising star, regularly appearing in TV shows and a new HBO documentary

Monday, July 14

Staten Island's own comedian/ventriloquist, Pete Michaels of West Brighton, has been seen regularly on television shows such as Comedy Central, It's Showtime at the Apollo and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. He has been on tours with Sherman Hemsley of the popular television show, The Jeffersons, and recently signed a sitcom development deal with a major television network. We heard that Pete will be featured in a documentary on the art of ventriloquism, which will air on HBO in the fall.

In addition to performing, Pete is currently penning his autobiography, titled: "Tales From The Quist." The book will chronicle his 20-plus years in the business.

He also appears in the new book: "Dummy Days: America's Favorite Ventriloquists From Radio and Early TV," published by Angel City Press (www.Dummydays.com.)

The Island native will be taking time off from the road to perform locally at the Mt. Carmel Festival in Rosebank, today. He will then travel to the International Ventriloquists Convention in Kentucky, where he serves on the advisory board of the Vent Haven Museum.
